"Till death do us part..."

Friday, January 3, 2014

First I'd like to wish all of you a Happy New Year! I hope you all rang in the New Year with friends and family and champagne!

For those of you who follow me personally on my social media pages (Facebook and Instagram), you all know that Sean and I announced our marriage on New Years Day! I'm sure some of you are shocked since we kept everything very quiet, with no engagement announcement or other engagement pictures and all that jazz... But what you don't know behind the one picture we posted and status change is that we have been married since June 12, 2013. Three weeks after having Honor, Sean and I decided to tie the knot with only our immediate family knowing. Since Honor was only three weeks old at the time, we didn't want the stress of planning and spending and everything else that comes with getting married. We wanted to keep everything short, simple and sweet (mainly my request). We made an appointment at our local courthouse and on June 12th at 3:30 pm, Sean and I were married in the presence of Honor & my parents (our witnesses). Though it wasn't a huge extravagant event, it was nothing short of perfect and meaningful to me and just as I wanted. As we shared our vows we both shed tears of joy (oh lord, here I go shedding tears writing this lol!) and exchanged our wedding bands.

So many of you who know me would expect the complete opposite of my small and quaint ceremony, thinking I'd want this big huge announcement, wedding and celebration. But much to everyone's surprise, the thought of that much attention on me as a bride gives me anxiety! (Shocking! I know!) We decided to wait on announcing our marriage for so long because we wanted to bring in the New Year in a special way that meant something to us as a new little family. Having Honor in 2013 was a huge accomplishment & blessing for us, aside from getting married after all these years... But we wanted to just finish out the year with   Honor being our biggest news and focus.

I'm sure many of you are confused by the different dates on Facebook, from 12/31/13, 1/1/14... But New Year's Day just shows the status change - we did not get married on New Years Day. Our actual marriage date is 6/12/13.

Going from being in a serious committed relationship, to now being "newlyweds" and married, is no different to us than before. We have been living a married "life" for countless years now (5 going on 6); only thing different now is that I represent the last name of the man I have loved for so long.

We apologize to those who may have felt slighted that we didn't share the news when it first happened months ago, but for our own personal reasons, this is exactly how we wanted it all to happen.

Clarisonic - Random Product Rant

Ok, so I know that I'm pretty much wayyyy late on this, and has really nothing to do with mommy-hood; but I just really wanted to share anyways! So for Christmas I had received a perfume set from Michael Kors from my parents... And although the fragrance smelt beautiful, it was a little too much on the heavier side opposed to my fruity/floral scents I wear. So I had decided to go in on Saturday, and exchange it at Macy's for a scent that I would normally wear, but ended up making the best purchase/exchange of my life! Instead of exchanging for another perfume (which a woman could never have too much of - like shoes) I ended up getting the Clarisonic Mia. After about literally 3-4 years of wanting one, I FINALLY brought myself to get it! Even though I had desperately wanted one for so long, I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on it even though the reviews, testimonials and so on were all very high.

I originally wanted the Mia 2 since it offers 2 speeds, but going back to my little ol cheep self, I didn't want to purchase something of more value than my exchange (I know, I'm lame). Regardless of it being the original Mia or  Mia 2, bottom line is I couldn't be any happier that I finally got it!! You really have no idea the excitement I get that comes from it, lol!

On that note, the Clarisonic is seriously the best investment any woman can make to add to their skin care regimen.  Everything it says it does - IT DOES. If you're like me and have always wanted one but just couldn't bring yourself to getting it, just do it! Because I can honestly say that you'll become so obsessed with it!

Anyways.. That's all for my obsessive rant on something completely random and off the wall! Lol.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years

Friday, December 27, 2013

I can't believe how fast this entire year has gone by! I swear it seems like just yesterday I was 3 months pregnant with Honor and getting ready to celebrate 2012!

This years holidays were extra special to us because we got to experience them as parents for the first time! Not to mention, adding to Honor's year of firsts as well.

We didn't do anything too wild and crazy this year, just kept everything simple and small. We had decided to spend both Thanksgiving and Christmas at my parent’s house in San Diego. I had prepared thanksgiving dinner for my parents, Sean, Honor, and Bentley... very small, and intimate. Granted I don't have much family out here, and I'm an only child. We pretty much just ate and relaxed all day, that's what you're supposed to do right?! Lol.

Since Christmas was just a few days ago, we spent it small with the addition of my mother in law, who drove down from LA. The rest of Sean's family was out spending it with their in-laws.

It had been maybe close to a month or two since my mother in law had seen Honor, and we were afraid that there was the possibility that Honor forgot who she was. But much to our surprise, Honor bonded so well with her! Not a single peep, holler, or cry! Totally made our Christmas, not to mention the joy my mother in law had from her fun time with her granddaughter. To be able to see how loved my daughter is by her grandparents on both sides, is truly a blessing. Growing up, I only had my grandmother on my mother's side around, as my grandpa and my grandparents on my father's side had all passed away when I was very young.

Sean and I kept all of our gifts to each family member simple, and all HANDCRAFTED! :) Since only my mother in law came down, she took everyone's gifts with her to give to them soon as she got home.

I made hot chocolate kits for my nieces and nephew, equipped with fleece blankets, mini hot beverage travel tumblers, and handmade bow ties and hair tie bows. I made my sister in law some turban headbands she had been wanting along with a homemade hand scrub.  As for the grandparents, I made them all Sharpie mugs with cute grandparent quotes on them.

I was told that everyone loved their gifts, which made me feel great, especially since I took the time to make them all!

As for New Years Eve coming up, we will be spending it with close friends and all of their kids... A great way to ring in the New year!
